About Us

In 1983 Chattahoochee Hospice Inc. opened its first phone lines. Chattahoochee Hospice Inc. did not have an office at that time, only a desk loaned to them by Lanier Memorial Hospital in order to get started. It was felt the community needed a locally run organization to give comfort and assistance to terminally ill people and their families. All the services offered at that time were through volunteers and all income was by way of fundraising and donations. In 1989 Chattahoochee Hospice Inc. became Medicare and Medicaid certified and was able to begin billing for their services.

Our Team

Hospice affirms life and recognizes that dying is a normal process. Death is neither hastened nor prolonged by hospice care. The patient's comfort (physical, psychosocial, and spiritual) is the primary goal. The patient and family together are a unit of care.

To ensure the patient's and family's needs are met, Hospice makes use of the interdisciplinary team to provide care and support. The hospice care team consists of a medical director, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, volunteers and a bereavement coordinator.

Chattahoochee Hospice Inc. is a not for profit 501(c)3 agency and is governed by a volunteer board of directors composed of people in the community. We are a stand-alone hospice, meaning we are not owned by anyone or a division of any other organization, either non-profit or for profit.

Service Areas: Chambers County AL, Randolph County, AL, Lee County, AL, Troup County GA, and Harris County GA.
