Patient and Family Support Volunteers
Home Care - Volunteers support patients and families by providing companionship, sitting with patients to give family caregivers a break, assisting with small tasks or running errands.
Tuck-In Program - Volunteers call patients and families weekly to find out if they have any needs prior to the weekend.
11th Hour Vigil - Volunteers provide emotional support and a caring presence for patients nearing death, in order to ensure that no Chattahoochee Hospice patient dies alone and families received the support needed at this crucial time.
Veteran to Veteran Volunteers - As a part of our We Honor Veterans Program, veteran patients are matched with veteran volunteers to assure our veteran patients receive the specialized care needed due to their military service.
Welcome Wagon - Volunteer quilters and crafters make lap quilts and blankets that are delivered along with a basket of helpful items to patients when they are admitted to our program.
Celebrations Volunteers - Volunteers help plan patient's birthday celebration, providing cake of choice and ice cream, balloons and party if desired by patient and family. On wedding anniversary volunteers provide a meal from the couple's favorite restaurant. Holidays are celebrated monthly with a balloon bouquet and gift basket for each patient.
Life Review Volunteers - Volunteers assist patients and family members in recording memories and life stories in a beautiful journal or DVD. These gifts are given for patients and families to cherish.
Bereavement - Volunteers assist the Bereavement Coordinator to provide support for individuals and families dealing with grief and loss. Support is provided for families that have been served by Chattahoochee Hospice and for other community members. Volunteers help with cards, letters, surveys, phone calls and visits and assist with grief workshops and support groups. Volunteers are also involved with the semi-annual Candlelight Memorial Service.
We Honor Veteran Volunteers
Chattahoochee Hospice is proud to be a We Honor Veterans partner. Veterans and active duty personnel are invited to volunteer as a part of this program. Volunteers provide a ceremony for Veteran patients and present them with a framed certificate, pin and Americana quilt in honor of their service to our country. Volunteers spend time listening and sharing stories with patients and families.
Ambassador Volunteers
Trained volunteer Ambassadors help increase Chattahoochee Hospice's presence in the community by representing the organization at various community outreach meetings and events and assisting with activities in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Office Volunteers
Volunteers provide administrative support to Chattahoochee Hospice staff, including reception, answering phones, filing, computer work, assembling mailings and materials.
Fundraising Volunteers
Chattahoochee Hospice quilters and crafters raise funds for the Volunteer Fund throughout the year. This fund is used to fulfill patient needs that would not be met otherwise. Volunteers are involved in planning and volunteering at events that raise funds and increase community awareness of our programs and services. The fundraising efforts provided by volunteers make it possible for Chattahoochee Hospice to care for patients, regardless of their ability to pay and to fund special programs that are unfunded.
Teen Volunteers
Chattahoochee Hospice provides volunteer opportunities for high school students (ages 14-18 or grades 9-12) and for college students of all ages. Teen volunteers visit nursing home residents, assist with fundraisers and community events, and provide administrative support in the office. Chattahoochee Hospice provides reference letters and service hours for those students who are working toward course requirements or scholarships.
Faith-Based Volunteer Program
Chattahoochee Hospice welcomes the involvement of faith congregations. Individuals and groups are invited to help with projects that benefit patients and families. Members can choose to become involved in sewing, quilting and craft projects, cooking, baking, home and yard maintenance, or donating needed items.
Community Partnership Program
Corporations, businesses, colleges, professional organizations, military/veteran groups, civic clubs and other community groups are invited to become Chattahoochee Hospice volunteer partners. Your help is needed to support fundraising events, to sponsor one-day projects that benefit patients and families, adopt a patient and family during the holidays or donate needed items. Volunteering for Chattahoochee Hospice is a great way to bring your team together to benefit your community.
