About Us
Chattahoochee Hospice, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As a community based non-profit hospice organization, not only are we able to devote all of our resources to patient and family care, but it also means we are locally operated. Our governing board of directors is comprised of local people; your friends and neighbors who know this area, know the people and are available to address changing conditions or needs quickly.
Chattahoochee Hospice was founded in 1983 when community leaders and health care professionals felt the area needed a locally run organization to give comfort and assistance to terminally ill people and their families. During the early years of operation much of the nonclinical work was done by volunteers and operating expenses were covered by way of fundraising and donations.
Chattahoochee Hospice became a Medicare and Medicaid certified hospice provider in 1990 and began billing for hospice services and providing the full range of services with a multi-disciplinary team of full- time staff.
In 1996, a fundraising campaign was begun to raise funds to construct a new 4,000 square foot office building at our current location. Generous contributions were received from local individuals, businesses, and foundations in an amount sufficient to pay for the building. The ground breaking ceremony for the new building was held July 3, 1997.
Employees and volunteers of Chattahoochee Hospice have been serving the citizens of the Greater Valley Area for over 35 years. Our hospice care team consists of a medical director, registered nurses, certified hospice nursing aides, social workers, chaplains, volunteers and a bereavement program coordinator.
We are dedicated to providing the highest level of patient and family care without regard to race, religion, national origin or ability to pay. Today that commitment remains at the forefront of our daily operations and is carried out by a professional team of highly trained, caring individuals who are your friends and neighbors. These are team members who understand the unique needs and circumstances of each family we serve.
